I am a Queens native, full-time high school biology teacher, wife, mom of two beautiful little girls, and of course, your go-to photographer.
Although I’ve always loved photography, it was just a hobby for most of my life. Growing up in a traditional Caribbean household with Jamaican parents, academia was always the priority, and artistry wasn’t seen as a career.
My father, the family photographer, captured countless memories, which I didn’t fully appreciate until I got older. Looking back at those photos, especially of my grandmother, brought back so many warm memories. After earning a BS in biology and a minor in chemistry, I wasn’t sure where I was headed professionally, but with encouragement from my former educators and a sense of divine direction, I pursued a MA in adolescent education. Photography remained a passion in the background, as I was always the one with the camera, perfecting images I'd taken from outings.
Becoming a mother sparked a deeper passion for photography. I created monthly photo projects for my first daughter, and later for both of my girls. Witnessing my passion, my husband gifted me my first DSLR, which fueled my creativity even more. In the summer of 2023, I officially launched Candice Captured it. My love for family, children, and motherhood led me to specialize in newborn, maternity, and family photography. My goal is to fill others with the same warmth and joy I feel when looking at my own family photos.
